Dave Magee, Municipal
Dave has always been dedicated to indigent criminal defense work. While attending the University of Michigan, he interned at the Washtenaw County Public Defender’s Office. Upon graduation Dave attended the Case Western Reserve School of Law. During law school, Dave worked as a research assistant for Professor Paul Giannelli and clerked at the Cuyahoga County Public Defender’s Office. After graduation Dave accepted a position as an Assistant Public Defender and was assigned to the Juvenile Division. Dave worked in Juvenile court for 3 years, and then transferred to the Felony Division. Dave spent nearly 20 years in the Felony Division, defending clients on all types of felony charges, from drug cases to murder cases.
In 2017, Dave became the Director of the Municipal Division of the Cuyahoga County Public Defender’s Office. While assigned to the Municipal Division, Dave has helped with several community outreach initiatives. He has helped organize outreach programs for Driver’s License Amnesty Clinics, has been actively involved with Judge Synenberg’s Pro Bono Collaborative and Cleveland Municipal Court’s “In the Neighborhood Program,” and regularly volunteered at the Homeless Stand Down.
