Laura Jones, Director of Training
Laura Jones has dedicated her entire career to advocating for the rights of the underprivileged members of society. She graduated from Whittier Law School in 2004 with an additional certificate from the Center of Children’s Rights. Prior to her legal career, Laura worked in the field of social work with adolescents who had been removed from their homes due to abuse and neglect. During law school, Laura worked as a legal intern at a small firm specializing in special education law for children with disabilities.
Laura joined the Cuyahoga County Public Defender’s Office in 2006, starting in its Youth and Parent Defense Division. For nearly ten years, Laura worked tirelessly representing children charged with criminal cases as well as parents facing government interference with their parental rights. In 2014, Laura transitioned to the adult Felony Division where she represents adults charged with felony level offenses. She has extensive trial experience, having tried countless criminal cases of all levels of offenses, and is certified as co-counsel on capital cases. Laura also has an active role in mentoring, training and supporting newer attorneys in the office. Laura was named Director of Training for the Office in 2024.
